A visitor is defined as someone who is coming to the hospital to check or see a patient.

Hospital's Visitors

Policy Statements: 

  • At Bushenge Provincial Hospital, leaders are committed to ensuring that visitors are warmly welcomed, properly oriented, and feel secure throughout their time on the hospital premises.
  • They make certain that the Customer Care Officer or Public Relations and Communication Officer is readily available to assist visitors and provide appropriate guidance.
  • Additionally, hospital leaders ensure that the Security Officer is well-oriented and trained in visitor orientation.
  • Visitors are expected to adhere to all hospital rules and regulations during their stay.

Procedures:

  1. The Customer Care Officer or Public Relations and Communication Officer at Bushenge Provincial Hospital makes orientation signs (both internal and external) for visitors.
  2. They also determine and display working hours, patient visiting hours, and rules and regulations at various hospital entrances and departments.
  3. The Customer Care Officer educates hospital staff, patients, and their relatives on visiting hours.
  4. The hospital's Security Officer welcomes visitors, collects necessary information, and directs them to the Customer Care Officer if needed.
  5. The Public Relations and Communication Officer at Bushenge Provincial Hospital personally welcomes, orients, and provides accurate information to hospital visitors.
  6. Visitors desiring access to isolation rooms, such as those in the TB and Neonatology Department, must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to the Patient Isolation Policy and Procedures.
  7. All visitors are required to observe handwashing at the hospital entrance and adhere to decontamination standards while inside.

Nurses clarify visiting measures for patients and their next of kin, emphasizing visits during designated hours, orientation within the intended department, and limiting bedside visits to two persons per patient. The hospital's visiting hours are 6:00 am to 7:00 am, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

For administrative guests, the Customer Care Officer explains the following measures:

  1. Visiting hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  2. Upon arrival at the gate, visitors provide identification to the security officer.
  3. The security officer records identification details (names and phone number or ID number) and registration information (place of origin, purpose of visit, etc.) before directing visitors appropriately.
  4. Optionally, visitors may leave written comments (livre d’Or) on their visit experience.
